Wood Burning Fireplace Designs

The most traditional fireplace design that you are able to use is the wood burning fireplace. When compared to the gas and electric design you will notice just how brightly it burns, the amount of heat it brings to your home, and the ambience it creates. It is truly a multi functional fireplace – but is it the one for your home?

Having a wood burning fireplace sounds ideal – but there are many things you have to consider. For example, when you do not design it just right the fireplace cannot be used and can create many problems inside of your home.

A wood burning fireplace design has quite a few more parts than that of any other type of fireplace. One of the most important parts that you cannot leave out is a ventilation system. The chimney is the main type of ventilation to use and with the right design can work well with the fireplace. Anytime you use the fireplace the flue must be open in order to keep the smoke from coming into your home.

The one problem with this is that many people will not properly care for the chimney and clean it on a regular basis. Hundreds of homes catch on fire every year because of chimney fires. However, even if this is not a problem one small flaw in the design could create a smoking fireplace.

There are two different types of wood burning fireplace designs that you are able to choose from. The first is to design it and then built it from scratch. The second is to purchase a pre-made fireplace design. Building it from the ground floor up or to pay someone to do it for you is the most expensive choice and will take much longer. It might require you to expand areas of your home, install certain things, and even get a permit to build it.

The pre-made fireplace designs are much more affordable and attainable. You have the assurance in knowing that each piece is where it should be and that it is designed to work properly. These come in a variety of styles that will fit any modern, contemporary, or classic home that you live in.
